I have been invited to be part of the Grand Opening Celebration for a new A.C. Moore store in Willow Grove, PA. I’ll be signing copies of Tunisian Crochet (and Basic Crocheting and Beyond Basic Crocheting), demonstrating Tunisian crochet, and giving informal instruction to anyone who is interested. I’ll have lots of samples with me also. If you are anywhere near Philadelphia or Montgomery County, please stop by and introduce yourself!

Tunisian Crochet reviewed in 1/10 Crochet mag

I got a wonderful surprise today: Tunisian Crochet receives a full-page review by Lyn Robinson in the “Chain Link” insert of the January 2010 Crochet! magazine. Even though this is my twelfth book, my heart still pounds a little when I read a review, especially when it is written by a knowledgeable author.

I had several goals for this book. The overriding one was to encourage crocheters to think of Tunisian as a technique that works as beautifully for soft, drapey, fashionable garments as it does for home decor items and, of course, for afghans. It was important that the instructions be clear and helpful, accompanied by detailed photos. Shaping, seaming, and finishing were given their due so the pieces look beautifully hand-crafted (as opposed to “home-made”).

You can read the full review in the magazine; here is a brief excerpt. “This is an excellent resource for someone wishing to learn, or to brush up on, the basics of Tunisian crochet. The combination of technical instruction and creative projects makes this an exemplary work which promotes both the art and craft of crochet.”

Comments from crocheters are what matter most to me. This is the icing on the cake!
