Happy Spring!
Flow
erpots, plants, and blossoms are everywhere now that spring is here. It’s rewarding to see the perennials that have spread – less planting and weeding to do, and nice thick flowers to enjoy!
As part of spring cleaning this year we are having a garage sale on Saturday, 4/25, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Time for some of our treasures to be enjoyed by others. I will be selling some yarn and many finished crocheted items – just in time for Mother’s Day! (If you want to tell your mom you made it yourself, I’ll keep your secret.) Furniture, power tools, sports equipment, electronics and computer equipment, games, books ... lots of good stuff that we just don’t need anymore. If you live near West Chester, PA and would like directions, please email me, Sharon@SharonSilverman.com.

Tunisian Crochet book now available!
I guess the boat from Hong Kong didn’t sink after all! Copies of Tunisian Crochet: The Look of Knitting with the Ease of Crocheting are now available from Amazon and should be in the warehouse at Stackpole Books on Monday. I expect to receive my shipment sometime next week. It’s always a relief to know that the books made it safely from the printer in China to the USA. Even though this is my twelfth book, it is as exciting as ever to have it complete the publication process and make it into the hands of readers (and crafters). This summer and fall I will be teaching and touring to promote the book...and working on my next projects, of course!

Where’s the HGTV bunny?
Apparently the Easter crochet episode my friends and I filmed for HGTV aired on 4/2. We had no idea it was scheduled; as late as the day before, it was not listed on HGTV or DIY. We filmed the show in 2007 and have been waiting to see it ever since. The only reason I know about it is because a viewer emailed to ask where she could get the pattern! (If anyone needs the pattern, please email Sharon@SharonSilverman.com and I'll send a copy. It is supposed to be posted on DIY's site, but isn't. Ugh!)If you recorded the show and would be willing to make a copy, please let me know. I’d be happy to pay for copying and shipping. Thanks! The show producers have since moved on, so I do not have a studio contact (and they don’t give out copies, at any rate), but I emailed everyone I could think of to ask them to post the pattern like they were supposed to. Meanwhile, I'll email it to whoever wants one.

“Florine” pattern available from Louet
I created this shapely shell for Louet North America in Tunisian crochet using Gems 100% merino wool fine/sport weight. This top looks great by itself or over a blouse. I'm going to make several in other colors just for myself! The pattern is available for purchase at Louet.com.On my mannequin, the horizontal ribbing hits below the bust; the model must have a longer torso than "Louise." It is easy to alter the position of the empire waist by changing the number of rows between the horizontal line and the armhole shaping. More rows = lower waist, fewer rows = higher waist. The pattern is also flexible with the distance between waist and hips. Crocheting more ribbed rows will make the garment longer and will give more midriff/waist/below-the-waist coverage. Choose the look that's right for you!
